FUNDRAISING WORKSHOP
“Starting A Donor Base From Scratch” – Building and Developing a Base of Loyal Supporters From Zero
Start-up and emerging non-profit organizations, service clubs and associations frequently encounter overwhelming difficulties in their efforts to build a solid base of loyal supporters. Not only must they compete with existing charitable groups for the same pool of potential donors, they rarely possess the expertise or resources they need to attract and retain a sustainable funding base. Established charitable groups also endure times when their donor base has diminished and they experience severe challenges in replenishing it with new supporters. Perhaps the greatest challenge confronting all organizations is the arduous quest of finding contributors who are willing to support the area of funding that is the most difficult to address – operating!
Yet there are straight-forward and relatively simple strategies that start-up, emerging and even mature non-profit organizations can employ that would allow them to connect with cultivate relations with potential individual, corporate and institutional partners. By learning a variety of creative and useful approaches related to donor acquisition, workshop participants will realize that it is possible even for small volunteer-driven organizations to begin to build strong and committed legion of donors within a reasonable timeframe. Of greater significance, participants will learn techniques that will enable them to core support for years to come.
Among the lessons that participants will learn through this interactive session:
How to use special events and outreach activities as a means to acquire new donors;
How to identify an organization’s “constituents” and precisely who should be targeted as prospective donors;
How to make inroads and generate support from the business and corporate sector, and;
The difference between donor and membership base.
