And the survey says.....

The results of our recent HaltonAVA survey tell us that members are mostly interested in connecting through learning opportunities (80%) and networking/sharing events ((85%).

Whether members have sufficient additional learning opportunities through other groups is unclear as 42% said yes, and 58% said no. For the timing of workshops, 70% preferred morning meetings that included breakfast. Two hours was the preference of 72% for the length of workshops.

Eighty-three percent of respondents requested quarterly events as their preferred frequency. The most popular format for events was a speaker followed by a discussion (50%), with a speaker only being the second choice at 46%.

The topics of most interest to our membership were the 40-hour service requirement for high school students (60%), closely followed by the Canadian Code of Volunteer Involvement (55%). The preferred locations for events were Burlington or Oakville (tied at 68% rating). Almost 48% of members would be most willing to spend $15 to attend an event, followed by 26% willing to pay $30. Interestingly, 13% would be willing to spend $50.

Members had these suggestions about what more HaltonAVA could do/provide for its members:

I'd like to see more learning opportunities around marketing to volunteers from a broader audience and from corporations and municipalities who might consider employee volunteerism.
More communication! I have been enjoying the PAVR-O updates and more frequent emails, please keep it up and add to it
showcase community volunteer programs
mentorship opportunities
have a list of community contacts that would give a discount to members, i.e. for volunteer appreciation supplies
admin strategies
recruiting and maintaining volunteers

Looking forward to seeing you on the 19th! Please continue to keep in touch with us and feel free to send comments, suggestions, workshop ideas and questions to us at anytime!
